پیانیست فیلمی در سبک زندگی نامه درام ساخته رومن پولانسکی است. رومن پولانسکی، از آن به عنوان مهم‌ترین فیلم خود یاد کرده‌است. وی در کودکی بمباران‌های ورشو توسط نازیها را تجربه کرده و مادرش را در همین بمباران‌ها از دست داده‌است. آدرین برودی با دریافت جایزه اسکار در سن ۲۹ سالگی، رکورد جوان‌ترین بازیگری که جایزهٔ نقش اول مرد را گرفت. «ولادیسلاف شیلمان» (برودی) پیانیست با استعدادی است که در یک خانواده ثروتمند لهستانی به دنیا آمده است. پس از اشغال لهستان توسط نازی ها، «ولادیسلاف» را به اردوگاه کار اجباری می فرستند. اما او فرار می کند و طی چند سال بعد، در حالی که تلاش دارد به دست نیروهای اشغال گر اسیر نشود، از خانه ای متروک به خانه ای دیگر می رود.

Frightening & Intense Scenes شدت: زیاد Definitely one of the grittiest and most grim/depressing Holocaust movies, even compared to ones like Schindler's List. While the other film still retains slight semblance of Hope in parts, the entirety of The Pianist is about nothing but sheer desperate survival with every Jewish and Polish person in constant peril. The atrocities are depicted in a very realistic manner, with no hope of rescue or interruption for the victims (who sometimes get shot or degraded for no apparent reason).
