    روزی روزگاری در آمریکا یکی از دیوانه‌کننده‌ترین فیلم‌هایی محسوب می‌شود که تاکنون ساخته شده است. این آخرین فیلم کارنامۀ افسانه‌ای «سرجو لئونه» و تنها فیلمی به شمار می‌آید که او در سیزده سال آخر زندگی‌اش به پایان رساند. «سرجو لئونه» ابتدا می‌خواست فیلم را به دو قسمت سه‌ساعته تقسیم کند اما استودیو به او گفت باید آن را به یک فیلم (و نه دو فیلم و دو سری) تقسیم کند. لئونه این فیلم را به 269 دقیقه کاهش داد اما استودیو از تلاش او برای کوتاه کردن فیلم راضی نبود. او یک نسخۀ 229 دقیقه‌ای را آماده کرد، اما نسخۀ آمریکایی بدون اجازه او به 139 دقیقه کاهش یافت. نتیجۀ این کاهش دقایق فیلم سردرگمی گسترده بین مخاطبان بود. سال 2012 نسخۀ بازسازی‌شده 255 دقیقه‌ای در دسترس عموم قرار گرفت و چه فیلم فوق‌العاده‌ای را شاهد بودیم. این فیلم داستان دهه‌ها دوستی و وفاداری اوباش در شهر نیویورک است.

      اول اینکه هیچوقت فکر نمیکردم یه فیلم ۴ ساعته ببینم دوم اینکه هیچوقت فکر نمیکردم اگر روزی یه فیلم ۴ ساعته رو ببینم یک تیکه ببینم و انقدر ازش خوشم بیاد واقعا شاهکار بود این فیلم تو سبک خودش بهترینه و شاید هم باید بگیم کلا بهترینه

              این فیلم رو تماشا کردم. تمام احساسات رو داره: خنده، گریه، شادی، ناراحتی، پیروزی، شکست، صعود، سقوط و... داستانی که داره با این که از یک سری جهات ناراحت کننده ست اما در عین حال جذابیت خاصی به فیلم بخشیده و موسیقی متن انیو موریکونه فیلم رو بسیار زیبا جلوه داده و بازیگری رابرت دنیرو بسیار قدرتمند و روایت فیلم و برش های نما به نما بسیار عالی و مناسب هستند.

                    به جرات یکی از بهترین فیلم های تاریخ محسوب میشه داستاد فوق العاده موسیقی شاهکار و نادر و جادویی فیلم برداری و لوکیشن نیویورک کلاسیک بازیگر ها درجه یک چهار ساعت فیلمه و شما اصلا نمی فهمید کی تموم میشه
